Final Solutions by Mahesh Dattani

 Hello Friends,

This blog is my response to the task assigned to us by our teacher VaidehiMa'am on The Final Solutions by Mahesh Dattani. So, read, understand and enjoy. Happy Learning!

Que. 1. How is the beginning

and the end of the movie?

Ans. In the beginning we see

there is lots of disturbance in the beginning of the

Movie, As if Muslims and Hindus are enemies.

So, even after we got independence,

But still the peace was not achieved.

Muslims and Hindus were quarreling.

Traitors were against Hindu Idol worship.

Even Aruna was not accepting Muslim

people or their touch and presence in

their home or even in the filling of

water or for worshipping God.

She thinks they should not touch her

holy things, it may make her God angry

and may spoil her holiness.

In the end, we see there is calmness, we

see the traitors in white dresses,

while in beginning were shown

in black dresses. In film

as if the problem seems to be solved.

The husband of Aruna, repents for burning

the shop so as to buy it in a cheaper

cost.

In movie we see Daksha, flashback and

the present, when she is of 15 and

and now of 50 years. She writes her

thoughts in a diary.

Que. 2 If you were the director

of the movie, what kind of

changes would you make

in the movie?

Ans. 2. If I was director of the movie, I could have shown a totally a different situation, in which Hindus and Muslims live in harmony with each other. They live in such a way that they both need each other and cannot remain aloof. They help each other and are bonded in such a way that even their children will also play together without any kind of discrimination.

I would like to portray an ideal situation. I would like to remove the demarcation of caste, religion from the nation. Although they follow different religion, but it should be like a salad bowl, where each show their own taste, but still combine to give all the nutrients and taste. It's like a rainbow that includes all the colors of life. And celebrating unity in diversity.

Sometimes when they gather, that is Hindus and Muslims, they would celebrate in such a way that they will forget their own identities and enjoy the real essence of brotherhood and friendship. They would mix up in such a way like a fruit juice or a soup in which different fruits and vegetables will lose their identities. But still it would give a very much perfect situation where all accept the good point and celebrate unity in diversity. When we accept each other, then it gives very much a different shine. Just us different items and variety in our Gujarati thali will make us happy and shall give us a balanced and healthy diet.

Thank you.

Marxist Criticism & Feminist Criticism

Hello Friends,  This blog is my response to the task assigned to us by our Prof. Dr.DilipSir on Marxist and Feminist Criticism. So, read, understand and enjoy. Happy Learning! MARXIST CRITICISM What Marxist critics do 1. They make a division between the 'overt' (manifest or surface) and 'covert' (latent or hidden) content of a literary work (much as psychoanalytic critics do) and then relate the covert subject matter of the literary work to basic Marxist themes, such as class struggle, or the progression of society through various historical stages, such as, the transition from feudalism to industrial capitalism. Thus, the conflicts in King Lear might be read as being 'really' about the conflict of class interest between the rising class (the bourgeoisie) and the falling class (the feudal overlords).  2. Another method used by Marxist critics is to relate the context of a work to the social-class status of the author. In such cases an assumption is made (which a...

An Artist of the Floating World, Novel

Hello Friends,  This blog is my response to the task given to us by our Prof. Dr. DilipSir in thinking activity on the novel "An Artist of the Floating World". Happy Learning! R: Read U: Understand  L: Learn  E: Enjoy ☆ SIGNIFICANCE   OF LANTERNS IN THE NOVEL • 'Lantern' 🏮appears 34 times in the novel. Even on the cover page, the image of the lanterns is displayed.  Lanterns in the novel are associated with  Ono’s  teacher  Mori-san , who includes a lantern in each of his paintings and dedicates himself to trying to capture the look of lantern light. For Mori-san, the flickering, easily extinguished quality of lantern light symbolizes the transience of beauty and the importance of giving careful attention to small moments and details in the physical world. Lanterns, then, symbolize an outlook on life which prizes small details and everyday moments above the ideological concerns of nationalists or commercial concerns of businesspeople. It i...
