My Experience on Lecture by Prof. Noam Chomsky

Prof. Noam Chomsky

A Brief Introduction

Avram Noam Chomsky (born December 7, 1928) is an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, historian, social critic, and political activist. Sometimes called "the father of modern linguistics",  Chomsky is also a major figure in analytic philosophy and one of the founders of the field of cognitive science. He is Laureate Professor of Linguistics at the University of Arizona and Institute Professor Emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and is the author of more than 150 books on topics such as linguistics, war, politics, and mass media. My Experience

It was a very wonderful experience and a great opportunity for us. The lecture was just the previous day of Prof. Noam Chomsky birthday. We were blessed enough to give him the best wishes. Online meetings have allowed us to connect with the world in no seconds. Although there were some technical issues in first 20 minutes so we were connected through YouTube link but after few minutes me and other more than 900 participants were connected through zoom meet. Zoom allows 1000 participants. It was said that more than 5000 participants registered for this session. It was a joyous occasion for all of us. Prof. is a public intellectual, like a rocky mountain, and he is the most Cited scholar in the world. He knows many languages including malayalam.

Although I found it a bit difficult to catch his lines but I tried to catch the words may be because of foreign tone so difficult to grasp everything but slowly I was able to catch many of his words and tried to pay more and more attention. But definitely we can watch the video or read the transcript to get to know all that we couldn’t get at the first time. But one thing is notable that he is so very energetic and enthusiastic inspite of 90+ age. He talked flourishly on his subject, we must salute to his powerful mind and memory. A lesson we should learn from such a great personality to take care of our health and to gain expertise in our profession.

It's said that to become a good speaker we need to become a good listener and good reader. The lecture lasted for almost 1 hour and 30 minutes but still Prof. said that he had another lecture within few minutes, such is his dedication and very high spirits even at nineties. Truly we can see this from Prof. that
"Age is just a number."

His strong will and determination is truly appreciable. It's all in mind if one wishes then he is young even at 80 and 90 but a weak person is old at twenty. The choice is ours. For much subject details please watch the video or read the transcript. Here I am sharing video and few screenshot of the lecture.

Thank you

The Waste Land by T. S. Eliot

Hello Friends,  This blog is my response to the task assigned to us by our Prof.Dr.DilipSir, Head of the Department, M. K. Bhavnagar University. So friends read, understand and enjoy. Happy Learning! ☆Nihilism in T.S. Eliot’s 'The Wasteland' Chapter 1 Introduction Nihilism is a very popular concept in English Literature and many authors have taken Nihilism as a theme in many of their works. The word Nihilism has long history. The word Nihilism is the resultant of the Latin phrase ‘Nihil’, which means anything does not exist. This term grew to be preferred with the newsletter of Ivan Turgenev’s novel Fathers and sons (1862) the place he used nihilism to explain the basic and rudimentary scientism supported by way of this character Bazarov who sermonizes a statement of belief of total negation. There are a couple of interpretations of the phrase Nihilism, as many critics have stated about Nietzsche that he believed within the literal dying of god. Nietzsche in lots of his works e...

Post Colonialism

Respected Sir,              This blog is my response to the task assigned to us about the Postcolonialism Today and the key ideas discussed by Bill Ashcroft.                       First of all I would like to say thank you to our Professor Dr.Dilip Barad Sir for giving us this wonderful opportunity to attend the session of Bill Ashcroft and many more such educational sessions for a better knowledge and experience.                                  Postcolonialism is constantly changing and developing. Post colonial theory is that branch of contemporary theory that investigates and develops prepositions about the cultural and political impact of European Conquest upon colonized societies and the nature of those society's responses. So there's two aspects to it. It's the analysis of the impact of European co...

Macbeth

Hello Friends,               This blog is my response to the task assigned to us by our Prof. Dr.Dilip Baradsir in thinking activity about Macbeth.  Here let's have a look at  "Macbeth" from Australian adaptation of William Shakespeare. It was directed by Geoffrey Wright, filmed in Melbourne and Victoria, was released in Australia on 21 September 2006. Wright and Hill wrote the script, which although it uses a modern day Melbourne gangster setting - largely maintains the language of the original play. 'Macbeth' was selected to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2006.              In a cemetery the Weird sisters, three school girl witches, are destroying and defacing headstones and statues, which close by Lady Macbeth weeps beside a headstone marked "beloved son" and Macbeth stands by. The three witches plan to meet with Macbeth later, and leave the cemetery.      ...
