Q-1 Which song of Bob Dylan has made an impact on you? Why? Can you find a song similar to the same theme in other language?

Ans. The song "Blowin' in the Wind" has made an impact on me. The songs tells us that sometimes life tests us more than enough. There're some questions whose answers we'll never know. We never know why do we have to bear so much pain and suffering at times, sometimes life tries us too much that it becomes very difficult for us to continue anymore. But there is some reason behind everything but the reasons we don't know or we may come to know after some point in life. Sometimes life tells us to be patient till the fruits ripe in our life but we're too impatient. Why life makes us wait, the reasons we never know. But the answers are there blowing in the wind but we've to learn to search them. The answers may be difficult to find and that's what Bob Dylan is telling us that to some questions in life the answers are hidden like mysteries, it's not easy to find them. The song questions the time that tries us in life that absorbs us, tries us beyond our limits and makes us very difficult to move on but the question is why? Why is life testing us too much and the answers are never known.

The song little similar to the song "Blowin' in the wind" is "Dil Ye Bekarar Kyon Hai" from the Players movie. This song is also asking some questions, the answers to which are not known to us. So below are the song lyrics. Read and feel the song and also watch the video.

Kyun raaton ko main ab chayn se so na sakoon

Oo...

Kyun aata nahin mujhe din mein bhi chain-o-sukoon

Oo kyun aisa hota hai main khud se hi baatein karoon

Oo kyun tu jo bole koi sune na woh main hi sunu

Dil ye bekarar kyun hai

Iss pe dhun sawaar kyun hai

Kyun hai ye khumaar kyun hai, tu bataa

Tera intezar kyun hai, tujhpe aitbaar kyun hai

Kyun hai ye khumar kyun hai, tu bataa

Tu bataa, tu bataa

Kyun tujhe dekhe bina aata nahin dil ko sabar

Oo kyun tere chehre se hatt ti nahin yeh nazar

Oo kyun tujhe paake mujhe rehta hai khone ka darr

Oo kyun tere siva saari duniya se hoon main bekhabar

Dil ye bekarar kyun hai

Iss pe dhun sawaar kyun hai

Kyun hai ye khumaar kyun hai, tu bataa

Tera intezar kyun hai, tujhpe aitbaar kyun hai

Kyun hai ye khumar kyun hai, tu bataa

Tu bataa, tu bataa

Ye pyaar hai jo tujhe ho gaya hai

Naa jaane kyun tu iss se tha bekhabar

Jo aaj kal yeh tujhe ho raha hai

Nahin aur kuch, pyaar ka hai asar

Kyun tere jalwo ka chatt ta nahin hai dhuaan

Oo kyun chale hawa toh lage ki jaise tune chhuaa

Oo kyun maangta hai dil tere liye roz duaa

Oo kyun ho raha jo pehle mujhe naa hua

Dil ye bekarar kyun hai

Iss pe dhun sawaar kyun hai

Kyun hai ye khumaar kyun hai, tu bataa

Tera intezar kyun hai, tujhpe aitbaar kyun hai

Kyun hai ye khumar kyun hai, tu bataa

Tu bataa, tu bataa

Below are the song lyrics of the song "Blowin' in the Wind"

Blowin’ in the Wind

WRITTEN BY: BOB DYLAN

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, ’n’ how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, ’n’ how many times must the cannonballs fly
Before they’re forever banned?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it’s washed to the sea?
Yes, ’n’ how many years can some people exist
Before they’re allowed to be free?
Yes, ’n’ how many times can a man turn his head
Pretending he just doesn’t see?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, ’n’ how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, ’n’ how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind

Q-2 Which poem of Robert Frost has made an impact on you? Why?

Ans. "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" poem by Robert Frost has made a deep impact on me. It always reminds me to focus on my goals, my dreams rather than being distracted by other things in life. Some things are like bubbles, they may give us momentary joy but they'll surely destroy our dreams. So in life this poem tells me that there's time and place for each and everything so when we're on some path to achieve something we should never stop in middle to look at something else. This tells us to remain focused in order to achieve our dreams, when we're on our path many distractions will come and they'll attract us so much making us difficult to move on but our dreams should never allow us to stop and enjoy the temporary moments.

The poem is as below:

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

BY ROBERT FROST

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

☆ Brief Introduction of Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan (born Robert Allen Zimmerman; May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter, author and visual artist. Often regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture during a career spanning nearly 60 years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" (1963) and "The Times They Are a-Changin'" (1964) became anthems for the civil rights  and anti-war movements. His lyrics during this period incorporated a range of political, social, philosophical, and literary influences, defying pop music conventions and appealing to the burgeoning counterculture.

Since 1994, Dylan has published eight books of drawings and paintings, and his work has been exhibited in major art galleries. He has sold more than 100 million records, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. He has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, ten Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award. Dylan has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The Pulitzer Prize Board in 2008 awarded him a special citation for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power". In 2016, Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".

☆ Brief Introduction of Robert Frost

Robert Lee Frost (March 26, 1874 – January 29, 1963) was an American poet. His work was initially published in England before it was published in the United States. Known for his realistic depictions of rural life and his command of American colloquial speech, Frost frequently wrote about settings from rural life in New England in the early 20th century, using them to examine complex social and philosophical themes.
Frost was honored frequently during his lifetime and is the only poet to receive four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry. He became one of America's rare "public literary figures, almost an artistic institution." He was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 1960 for his poetic works. On July 22, 1961, Frost was named poet laureate of Vermont.

A Brief Note on Translation

Translation study makes the writers work known beyond their own linguistic boundaries. To achieve a high standard in Translation and faithful to the original text one has to take note of the linguistic problems and refer to the theoretical components. Many writers have formulated theories of Translation and established the principles for the Translators. Problem of Equivalence is a major concern in any theory of translation. Translation equivalence is a semiotic category comprising syntactic, and semantic components. Translators must study the translation theories that can be used as a guideline for the production of translation. Se...

Post Colonialism

Respected Sir,              This blog is my response to the task assigned to us about the Postcolonialism Today and the key ideas discussed by Bill Ashcroft.                       First of all I would like to say thank you to our Professor Dr.Dilip Barad Sir for giving us this wonderful opportunity to attend the session of Bill Ashcroft and many more such educational sessions for a better knowledge and experience.                                  Postcolonialism is constantly changing and developing. So there's two aspects to it. It's the analysis of the impact of European co...
